AI-nimal Farming into the Margins: Interspecies, post-human and multidisciplinary entanglements
Abstract (English)
The contribution aims at developing a reflection on interspecies, posthuman relationships and multidisciplinary entanglements in the concrete and contemporary development of animal farming through the use of digital technologies and AI tools. A special attention will be deserved to social and cultural impacts of digital technologies such as remote sensing, drones, big data management tools, facial recognition, health digital monitoring and so on in remote and rural areas and not only in the highly industrialized animal farming industry. On the one hand such technologies are implying more intesive/extractive modes of productions and of soil exploitation, on the other they can help a more fluid and place-based attitude to manage traditional pastoralism and natural rangelands management orienting and supporting slow mobilities, transhumance and herded/wild biodiversity conservation. How to deal with this kind of practices and tools? How to prepare and support local communities to copy with such a kind of changes in local knowledge and embedded practices? Keywords (Ingles)
