Mesa Redonda Seleccionada / Selected Roundable

Why is HIV still here?

Abstract (English)
This interdisciplinary roundtable, encompassing public health and anthropological perspectives, will discuss the socio-cultural, gender, political and additional causes underlying the persistence of HIV/AIDS, notwithstanding the prevention, diagnostic and treatment methods implemented globally. It will focus on populations vulnerable to HIV, such as girls and young women, people living with disabilities, indigenous populations, LGBTQs and CSW, as well as on the impact of stigma and discrimination towards PLWHA. “Best practices” for culture sensitive interventions to promote treatment and prevent HIV/AIDS infections in different contexts will be shared.
