The experience of translating and publishing anthropological literature for psychologists and their clients
Abstract (English)
The author, being a practicing psychologist and at the same time a research anthropologist, studies the method of "shamanic ecstatic trance" by Felicitas Goodman (an American anthropologist of the twentieth century). The report will focus on this work, which began in Russia in 2008 and led to the idea of translating and publishing books on anthropology related to such terms as "ecstatic trance", "religion", "shamanism". "rituals", "rituals of perception", "alternate state of consciousness". Being included into another professional field the author observed the tremendous demand for such kind of literature and its influence on psychological perception of client's problems."Ecstatic trance" is used as a modern spiritual and psychological practice among psychologists and representatives of other professions aimed at personal development. This practice is considered psychological using elements of modern shamanism. We will analyze, firstly, the features of the practice itself in its modern Russian version (in comparison with the original versions of American and European origin), and secondly, the anthropological literature the audience needs to apply in their future to work with clients.
