The Role of Education in Improving Healthcare

Abstract (English)
The role of education in improving healthcare is pivotal in fostering a knowledgeable and skilled workforce, enhancing patient outcomes, and promoting public health awareness. Education impacts patient care by equipping healthcare professionals with the latest medical knowledge and best practices, ensuring they can provide high-quality care and treatment. It also encourages continuous learning, which helps practitioners stay updated with new technologies and advancements in medicine. Furthermore, education empowers patients with the information they need to make informed decisions about their health, leading to better adherence to treatment plans and improved health outcomes. This then opens healthcare education to be viewed from the perspective of the people being treated, these being the communities and society as a whole. Public health knowledge can also be sourced from the people in order to understand how best to offer the necessary healthcare services. The purpose of this panel is to examine the multifaceted ways in which education influences the healthcare landscape, from healthcare provider training to patient empowerment. The aim also includes understanding knowledge from existing generations and those before whilst incorporating education from a medical pluralism approach across all public health care concerns (mental health, dental health, physical global health: non-communicable diseases etc.). It will also dwell on the socio-cultural and gender barriers to education in different context. It examines how educational programs, ranging from medical schools to community health initiatives, equip individuals with essential skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of healthcare systems. Additionally, the panel highlights the impact of continuous education on healthcare professionals, including culture and gender sensitization when working in multicultural societies. Thus, education can also play a crucial role in reducing health disparities and fostering equity in health access by promoting preventive care and encouraging informed decision-making among patients. Ultimately, this panel underscores that a comprehensive and culture-sensitive approach to health promotion and education approach is essential for cultivating a healthier society and improving overall health outcomes.
