Mesa Redonda Seleccionada / Selected Roundable
Decolonizing visual anthropology at the intersection of methodology and media
Abstract (English)
Decolonialism calls for representational shifts and figures prominently in efforts to incorporate non-textual forms into ethnography. In response, visual anthropologists have become increasingly interested in learning from parallel fields of practitioners (curators, filmmakers, photographers, artists). The aim is usually to incorporate their political, aesthetic, and ethical commitments in both research and dissemination. This roundtable explores projects that combine practices associated with both scholars and artists, and invite a reflection on media forms, methodologies, and power relationships. Keywords (Ingles)
