Situation of Digital Technologies on Tourism and Hospitality Management System in Nepal: An Anthropological Review

Abstract (English)

Adjoining two of the world’s fastest-growing economies – India and China – Nepal has eight of the world’s highest mountains, a richness of natural resources, and multidimensional socio-cultural heritage charming tourists globally. Despite these attractive features, Nepal has not been able to tap into its growth potential due to persistent political ambiguity, trade distractions, and natural catastrophes (such as the twin earthquakes in 2015 and floods in 2017). Political instability had become a part of life for Nepali citizens, with the country changing its government up to 20 times since the introduction of democracy in 1990.1 That stated, Nepal has made significant progress on reforms with the adoption of a new Constitution in 2015, transitioning from a unitary to federal state, and election of a stable government. Nepal’s natural well and beauty and the Himalayas make it a well-admired tourism place. The gross income of the country is deeply impacted by the tourism and hospitality sector. digital technology is an efficient instrument for enhancing the tourism and hospitality spectrum. The Nepalese authority intends to fully digitize this area as well. The objective of this writings was to inspect information technologies use in Nepalese tourism and hospitality sector. For the writings and research, a comprehensive study of the literature was done beside with interviews. Social media was naked to be beneficial to the sector. This study explore digital information use in tourism and hospitality sector is continuing per the Digital Nepal Framework 2019, however, the speed of execution seems to be quite slow deliberate and the full adoption of digital Technologies on tourism and hospitality management system in Nepal to be far off from the current situation.
