Call for Workshop Proposals

The World Anthropological Union (WAU) Congress 2025 invites scholars, practitioners, and activists to submit workshop proposals for this landmark event, which will take place in Antigua, Guatemala, from November 3–8, 2025.

Workshop Objectives

We welcome two distinct types of workshops:

Practical Educational Workshops:
Designed to teach participants new skills or methods, these sessions are led by an expert who provides demonstrations followed by hands-on practice for participants.

Innovative and Multimodal Workshops:
These workshops encourage conveners to experiment with or explore questions through multimodal, sense-scape, and non-textual approaches. Formats such as performance, poetic, visual, aromatic, tactile, video, auto-, fictional, and experimental ethnographic forms are welcome.

Workshops will be conducted in person only and exclusively in English or Spanish.

Submission Guidelines

Workshop proposals must include the following:

– Title: A clear and engaging title.

– Abstract: A concise description of the workshop, its objectives, and its relevance to the field (maximum 300 words).

– Keywords: Three to five keywords summarizing the main themes of the workshop.

– Technical Requirements: Specify any technological, material, or logistical needs essential for the workshop.

– Venue Requirements: Describe specific needs related to the workshop venue.

Duration: Indicate whether the workshop will run for 4 or 6 hours.
